Outdoor Living & Hardscape

Rooms the Garden Holds.

Patios, walls, shade, and fire — built as part of the garden's design, so the built space and the planting grow together.

What We Build

The Built Half of the Garden

Patios & Paths

Flagstone, pavers, and decomposed granite — the floors of your outdoor rooms and the routes between them.

Seat Walls & Fire

Low walls that double as seating, fire bowls and fire pits that make the garden a destination after dark.

Shade & Structures

Pergolas, arbors, and shade sails placed where the afternoon sun says they should be — not where the catalog photo had them.

Garden Lighting

Low-voltage lighting that extends the evening — paths lit for feet, plantings lit for atmosphere, nothing lit like a parking lot.

Materials

Built to Weather In, Not Wear Out

We choose materials that belong in a California garden and get better with age: natural flagstone, decomposed granite, board-formed concrete softened with hardwood seat caps, cedar that silvers in the sun. The goal is a built space that looks like it grew up with the planting around it — because in a Del Oro design, it did.

One Design, Not Two

The Patio and the Planting Are the Same Project

Hardscape designed without the garden gives you a slab with shrubs around it. We design them together — grasses that catch the light at the patio's edge, a seat wall that borrows its backdrop from the sage behind it, paths that reveal the garden instead of just crossing it. That's the difference between concrete in a yard and a room the garden holds.
